The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Matthew Gilmore can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Ted and Maureen Flynn
Condolence: We have very fond memories of Mr. Gilmore. He was a friendly and affable person who was very easy to talk with. He was known as a great handyman and when he came down to visit Joe and Catherine he always helped them with projects around the house.

At one of the family gatherings he was telling us about a book that he had just read. He told us many interesting details of the book and he had a great memory for recalling funny details. He clearly loved his family and grandchildren and will be missed by all. He will be joining his beloved wife Marie and his son Matthew.

Condolence: Matt Gilmore is easily one of the most wonderful people I have ever had the honor of knowing. I'm sad that I'll never get another chance to spend time with my friend. My memories of him will always be treasured. I'm consoled by the fact that he is reunited once again with Marie and son Matthew. Once my own parents passed on, I often lovingly referred to Matt and Marie as my "Emergency Backup Parents". As "master of unfinished projects", I smile as I remember how Marie always threatened to engrave the word "mañana" on his grave marker! I miss you already, Matt! Thank you for always being there for our family.

Condolence From: Kathleen Hennessey
Condolence: Mr.Gilmore was always a pleasure to be around and will be missed. We Hennesseys frequently saw him in VA whenever the Hennessey and Gilmore extended clans had special holiday and school events. He was always gracious, cheerful and smiling. I remember how his expert handyman skills were often called upon during his visits with Catherine, Joe and the kids in Virginia, especially in the early days of their buying and updating successive houses. He was a talented executive, a loving father and grandfather, a super ‘do it yourselfer’, and an all around nice guy. I know he is up there in heaven now, happily reunited with his wife Marie and their son Matthew. And he will continue watching over his loved ones from his heavenly resting place with them, and cheering on his favorite NY teams!
