James A. (Jim) Higham, New Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2018, surrounded by family. Jim is predeceased by his mother, Carol Higham. In addition to his father, Walter Higham, he is survived by his sisters, Peggy (Fred) Gorell, Janice (Cary) Wald, Beth (Barry) Daniell and Carol Lynne (Rich Ward) Rich, nieces and nephews, Megan, Amanda, Lilley & Ryan (Kelly) Gorell, Katie, Brett (Se eun), Kyle & Alec Wald, Jake & Carolyn Daniell, Ben & James Rich, and great nieces, Leah & Alie Wald.

Jim was an avid hiker and rock climber, spending several years teaching climbing and as a climbing guide. He had a special love for children, especially the special needs children that he taught. He was an amazing artist and his work was admired by many.

Jim will be remembered for his passion for mountaineering, the outdoors and art, and through the never-ending love for his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to the CT Regional Hospice.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 2-6pm at Beecher Funeral Home, Brewster, NY
