Roger Goodnough, of Brewster, NY, died peacefully at his home on November 10, 2018. He was 72 years old.
Born on September 13, 1946 in Franklin, New Hampshire, son of the late Reginald and Helen (Varney) Goodnough. Roger graduated from Bristol High School in 1964. He continued his education at UNH in Durham and completed his schooling at Columbia Law School receiving his Juris Doctor.
Mr. Goodnough was an attorney at Law with Torre, Lentz, Gamell, Gary & Rittmaster LLP in New York City, NY. He became Of Counsel before retiring just a few years ago. Roger’s co-workers believed he met his calling when he became an attorney.
On October 10th, 1990 Roger married the love of his life Margaret ‘Maggie’ E. Hambly. Together they moved to Brewster in 1991 and lived a wonderful life together until her death on April 27th.
Roger was an avid Red Sox fan. He truly believed that his granddaughter Madeleine, even though she is a Yankee fan, who was born right before their 2004 win of the world series in 86 years was their good luck charm. He also loved that his other granddaughter Campbell shared the same love for the Red Sox. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and loved traveling to his home state of New Hampshire. Mr. Goodnough enjoyed all aspects of politics and always expressed the importance of voting. His greatest passion in life however was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Roger is survived by his children; Cynthia Martin (Brooks) and Michael Goodnough, his stepchildren; Sean Ruppert and Angel Ruppert, his sister; Marie Rogan (Christopher), his grandchildren; Madeleine and Campbell Martin and Dylan Goodnough, his step grandchild; Blaine Hudak and many nieces, a nephew and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Roger’s wishes were to be cremated, a private cremation will be held and a memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY assisted the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Roger can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS, 66675, woundedarriorproject.org and/or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
