Saverio ‘Sam’ Lanzillotto, recently of Brewster, NY, formerly a 60 year resident of Yonkers, NY died on Saturday, October 20, 2018. He was 87 years old.
Born on May 29, 1931 in Bronx, NY, son of Carmine and Anna (Cianciatto) Lanzillotto. He graduated from schools in the Bronx and attended Colorado State College of Education in Greenley, CO. Sam honorably served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Sam married the love of his life, Theresa Vozza on July 7, 1956 in the Bronx.
Sam was Owner and Operator of Gas-Lite Service Company in Yonkers, NY for 50 years having retired in 2002. Sam enjoyed travels to the Saratoga racetrack and visits to Lake George with his family. Those that knew Sam would certainly agree that his honesty shown bright amongst his many qualities. Maybe it was this wonderful quality that assisted in his obtaining Babe Ruth’s autograph when he was just a young man.
Besides his wife Theresa of 52 years, Sam is survived by his four children, Richard C. Lanzillotto of Medford, LI, NY, Anne-Marie Lanzillotto of Lawrenceville, NJ, Joanne (Alfred) Valentine of Brewster, NY and Michael (Susan) Lanzillotto of Croton-On-Hudson, NY; a brother, Nicholas Lanzillotto and a sister, Teresa Casatelli both of Franklin Square, LI, NY; 8 grandchildren; Christina, Richard Jr., Laura, Olivia, Joseph, Erika, Cynthia and Alexandra. Also a greatgrandchild on the way.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 27, 2018 10:00am at Annunciation Church, 470 Westchester Ave., Crestwood, NY. Interment of cremains will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Hawthorne, NY.
