Life Story for Donald H. Parfitt

Donald H. Parfitt, a 48-year resident of Putnam Lake, NY, died on Wednesday July 25, 2018 at Putnam Hospital Center. He was 85 years old.
Born on August 3, 1932 in the Bronx, NY, son of Henry and Lucille (Italiano) Parfitt. Following graduation from NYC schools he honorably served in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War. Don was a police officer with the NYPD for 20 years before retiring.
On June 22, 1996 he married Sally Terrien at Sacred Heart Church in Putnam Lake, NY. Don was an active parishioner at Sacred Heart Church where he was also an usher, past president of the Holy Name Society and a member of the Fr. Breen Council of Knights of Columbus. He was also an avid golfer and a member of the BPO Elks.
Besides his wife Sally Hamel Parfitt, he is survived by his children; Donald H. Parfitt, Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Richard G. Parfitt of Lewes, Delaware, Catherine R. Dube of Bethel, Connecticut and Linda L. (Scott) Appell of Port St. Lucie, Florida, his step-children, Jeffrey Hamel of Pawling, NY, Troy (Claudia) Hamel of Patterson, NY and Denise Pimentel of New Fairfield, CT. Also 10 grandchildren; Joseph & Frank Dube, Nicole Monti, Michael Appell, Rachel Sanchez-Appell, Jarret, Melissa, Jessica & Erica Hamel and Kearsten Pimentel, and his 3 great grandchildren; Jaxon, Cole and Christian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 10am at Sacred Heart Church, Patterson, NY (Putnam Lake). A private cremation will follow. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster on Monday, July 30th from 4pm-8pm.
