Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of Drew. I first met him and his lovely family many years ago when I was living with my uncle and aunt (Tony and Cathy Rispoli) in the house next door on Turk Hill Road (from 1975-77).

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Durkins passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Durkin Family. God Bless.

Condolence: I find it both ironic and sad, that in this technology era in which people have perfected "impersonal communication" through one gadget or another, that we have lost a man who accomplished so much through a firm handshake,looking you in the eye and taking an interest in what you had to say.

Rest In Peace Uncle Drew, you will be missed.

Condolence: We were shocked and saddened to hear of Drew’s passing. He was a great guy with a ready smile, and we will miss him. He and Maureen made a perfect couple.

We will keep Drew and Maureen in our prayers.

Condolence: "Is that right?"

That's the phrase I most associate with my Uncle Drew. Sometimes, I think, he meant it ironically. Sometimes mockingly. Sometimes as a challenge. And, also, sometimes he meant it sincerely.

In my experience, he was a man of few words, and many of those few words could be taken in many different ways. He kept me on my toes, and liked to tease, and I appreciated that.

Even if I didn't always know what he meant by, "Is that right?', here's what I know for sure:

He worked hard. He was honest. He was a patriot. He had opinions. He was stubborn. He was independent. He was kind of shy. He had good manners. He had good morals. He loved my Aunt Maureen beyond measure. He loved and was proud of all my Durkin cousins and all the Durkin grandchildren. He loved God.

He built a business. He built a family.

He lived a long life. He lived a good life.

If he were reading this, he might tilt his head and ask, "Is that right?"

And I'd have to reply: "Yeah, Uncle Drew; that's right. You did well. You left a legacy. You will be remembered."

Condolence: My deepest sympathy to Maureen and the entire Durkin Family during this most difficult time. Drew walked this life with great faith, a great love for his family and friends, displaying a quick wit and a great sense of humor. I will always remember his smile and his devotion to his family, his faith and the community. He truly was a gentleman in every sense of the word and for those of us who knew him we remain blessed to have had him in our life. Drew, rest in peace in the loving arms of our Lord.
